Yoga for volleyball players

Volleyball and the body
Jumps, landings, arms overhead
Volleyball asks the body for repeated jumps and landings, arms working at full stretch overhead when attacking, blocking and serving, and quick, low movement in defence. Shoulders, back, knees and ankles take most of the load.
That is why the practice is built around the player's position, physical history and the point in the season, in agreement with whoever looks after their preparation.
What we work on
A practice built around the game
- Mobility of the chest, shoulders and shoulder bladesFor a freer, more controlled attack and serve.
- Back and coreStability and control when the trunk extends and rotates, through work on spinal stability and extension.
- Hips, knees and anklesMobility and stability to support jumps, landings and the defensive stance.
- Recovery between training and matchesRestorative practices and conscious breathing to support recovery when fixtures come thick and fast.
- A clear head at decisive momentsBreathing techniques and concentration to stay present point after point.
The three pillars
Breath, body, mind
Breath
Breath control to regulate tension and energy between one rally and the next.
Body
Mobility, alignment and myofascial work for more efficient movement with less compensation.
Mind
Meditation and visualisation for concentration and for managing pre-match stress.

How we work
Built into your preparation
The programme is built around the athlete and coordinated with their strength and conditioning coaches, in line with the season's goals. Sessions take place at your home or your club's facility, one-to-one or in small groups of up to four people.
We recommend practising consistently for at least three months to feel the benefits.
