Tennis and the body
A one-sided sport, point after point
Tennis works one side of the body more than the other: the shoulder, elbow and wrist of the playing arm, the rotation of the trunk in every stroke, the hips, knees and ankles in lateral movement and sudden stops. On top of that comes a constant mental demand: every point starts again from zero.
The practice is built around your game, your body and the tournament calendar, in agreement with whoever looks after your preparation.
What we work on
A practice built around the stroke
- Rotation of the trunk and hips, side bendsTo hit with the whole body, not just the arm.
- Shoulders and wristsMobility and stability in the joints most loaded by the serve and the strokes.
- Balance between the two sidesTargeted work to rebalance and strengthen a body that always uses the same side on court. Practices that develop the deepest muscles, to give the joints the greatest support and the body a stable centre.
- Footwork and movementStability of ankles, knees and core in lateral movement and sudden stops.
- Concentration between pointsBreath and meditation practices to regain clarity in the pauses and at decisive moments.
- RecoveryRestorative practices and myofascial release to give the body its energy back and help the muscles recover quickly.
The three pillars
Breath, body, mind
Breath
Breathing techniques to use between points and at changeovers, to regulate tension and energy.
Body
Mobility, alignment and myofascial work to support the stroke and reduce compensation.
Mind
Meditation and visualisation for concentration and for managing match stress.

How we work
Built into your preparation
The programme is built around the athlete and coordinated with their strength and conditioning coaches, in line with the season's goals. Sessions take place at your home or your club's facility, one-to-one or in small groups of up to four people.
We recommend practising consistently for at least three months to feel the benefits.

Frequently asked questions
Before you start
Where do the sessions take place?
At the club's facility, at the athlete's home or, on request, at an outside venue. That way the practice doesn't interrupt the daily training routine.
How does it fit around training and tournaments?
Sessions are coordinated with the training and competition calendar, in agreement with whoever looks after your preparation, to support both heavy training periods and recovery.
Do I need to have done yoga before?
No. You don't need any yoga experience to start.
